Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population's Epidemiology and Communicable Disease Control Division has issued a directive to federal hospitals and the Institute of Health Sciences to establish fever clinics in response to the escalating number of daily dengue cases.

Dr. Rudra Prasad Marasini, the Division's Director, emphasized the necessity of fever clinics for conducting comprehensive fever screening, particularly due to the growing prevalence of dengue disease. With dengue infections affecting 14,357 individuals across 75 districts in the country, the urgency of the situation has led to 10 fatalities thus far.

In tandem with fever clinics, hospitals have also been tasked with ensuring precise diagnosis and effective treatment of dengue cases. Dr. Marasini conveyed, "Hospitals and medical institutions under the Federal government have been given clear guidelines for dengue disease prevention, control, and treatment."

Anticipating a surge in dengue cases during the months of August and September, the Division has highlighted the importance of preparedness among medical facilities.

The Ministry has made a public appeal for citizens to take preventive measures, including sleeping under mosquito nets, wearing long-sleeved clothing outdoors, and installing nets on windows and doors to thwart mosquito entry. Moreover, individuals have been urged to eliminate breeding sites for mosquitoes, thereby curbing their proliferation.
